Sprek

Privacy policy

Who. Sprek is made by Odin Raugstad, an individual developer in Norway. This may change to a company later; this page will say so. Contact: oterak4@gmail.com

In short. Your health data stays on your iPhone. Sprek has no server and no accounts. It has no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Nobody else can see your data, not even the developer.

What Sprek reads from Apple Health

Only what you allow. You can change it at any time. Sprek reads heart rate, resting heart rate, steps, walking and running distance, active energy, resting energy, sleep, weight, height, body fat percentage, date of birth and sex.

Sprek uses them to show your day in the app and in widgets, to suggest goals (such as how much water to drink), and to estimate your calorie burn from your body data.

What Sprek writes to Apple Health

Only what you allow:

Meals and water are saved by default. To stop it, turn off Save meals to Apple Health in your Sprek profile. Sprek writes nothing else. It never reads meals or water back from Apple Health.

Other apps you have allowed in Apple Health can read what Sprek writes there. You control that in the Health app.

Where your data is kept

On your iPhone only. That includes Sprek's own data: your food log, your own foods and meals, your water log, goals, streaks, weight trend, your answers to the welcome questions and settings, and a small copy of today's numbers that the widgets show. Sprek does not use iCloud. A normal iPhone backup (iCloud or a computer) can include some of it, such as the water log and settings. That backup is between you and Apple. Sprek leaves its food log, goals, weight coach, streaks, welcome answers and the widget copy out of backups.

Delete Sprek and what it keeps on your iPhone goes with it. What Sprek saved in Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app.

What goes over the internet

Only food lookups. Nothing about you or your health.

Each request tells the site that it comes from Sprek, with the version number and a contact link. Like any web request, it also shows your IP address and the usual connection details. The sites keep their own logs. Open Food Facts explains theirs at world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.

Sprek sends no account, no ID, no cookies, no location, no photos and no health data. Sprek has no server of its own.

Camera

Sprek uses the camera to scan barcodes and to read nutrition labels. It reads them on your iPhone. It does not send or keep the pictures.

Bluetooth

Sprek can show your heart rate live from a Bluetooth band that shares heart rate. It looks for a band only after you tap Live on the heart rate card, and only while a screen that shows live heart rate is open. It reads the heart rate and nothing else. It does not save or send it. To find the band, Sprek looks at nearby Bluetooth devices that share heart rate. It saves and sends nothing about other devices. It remembers which band you use, on your iPhone. Forget band in Data sources clears that.

Notifications

One optional reminder to log food. It is off until you turn it on. It is made on your iPhone.

Widgets

Widgets show the copy of today's numbers kept on your iPhone. The water button adds a drink to Sprek's log on your iPhone.

Bug reports

If you report a bug from Sprek (Profile → About → Report a bug, or by shaking your phone), Sprek opens an email in your own Mail app to the developer. It holds what you write and, if you leave them on, a screenshot of the screen you were on, which can show your health numbers, and app details: the Sprek and iOS versions, the iPhone model, the language and region, and Sprek's own recent log lines, which never contain health values. You see all of it before you send. Sprek sends nothing by itself.

No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking

Sprek has no accounts. It has no ads, no analytics, no tracking and no third-party code. Your health data is never used for marketing and never sold or shared.

TestFlight (during the beta)

If you test Sprek with TestFlight, Apple collects crash logs and usage information and shares them with the developer. If you send feedback, Apple passes it on, with any screenshot and comment you add. Sprek itself sends none of this. Apple explains it in the TestFlight privacy notice. If you joined through a public link, your name and email stay hidden unless you send them yourself.

Children

Sprek collects no data from anyone, children included.

Your choices

Change what Sprek may read and write in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Sprek, or in the Health app under your profile picture → Apps → Sprek. Change Camera, Bluetooth and Notifications in Settings → Sprek. Delete Sprek to remove what it keeps on your iPhone.

Not medical advice

Sprek is not a medical device and gives no medical advice. Its numbers, goals and calorie estimates are for information. Food data comes from public databases and can be wrong. If you have a medical condition or a history of eating problems, talk to a doctor first.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes.
